Initial Steps of a NetSuite ERP Implementation - Bundles

by Alex Burant in , , September 26th, 2023

It is easy to assume that once you have provisioned a NetSuite account, it is loaded with the necessary bundles and data to start the implementation. However, since 2021, NetSuite has started the SuiteSuccess Program, so most new licenses sold by NetSuite refer to an edition.

To benefit from all the prebuilt SuiteSuccess dashboards, roles, etc., you will need to follow the deployment guide (it's best practice to have a NetSuite Partner do this with you) specific to your edition. This should be done immediately at the beginning of the NetSuite implementation process.

What NetSuite Edition do I have?

The first step would be to determine what edition your final licensing was. It will sound something like “WD Standard,” “Services Premium,” or “Financials First.” These will indicate a predetermined set of features for you, as well as preconfigured forms, Advanced PDFs, NetSuite dashboards, and Roles and Permissions you can leverage.

This is excellent because it provides an excellent launching point for the implementation. The rub is that this data needs to be installed before you do anything in the system.

How to Use the NetSuite Deployment Guide

Deployment guides help you get a newly provisioned NetSuite instance up and running at t the beginning of your NetSuite Implementation. This guide helps NetSuite Partners know when to install the additional bundles and features. It covers everything from requesting the shared bundles and SuiteApps to the specific order in which to install them.

It's very important for your NetSuite Partner to read the entire deployment guide before proceeding. Some features may not be reversed once turned on, so your implementation partner should verify with you whether you actually need each of these features before enabling them.

Once this is done, your partner can start the NetSuite implementation!
