Gulp Error: "Could not download all the extension files..."

Extension Problem

When running gulp fetch you get an error that starts with “Could not download all the extension files”. This is likely due to an issue with one of the deployed extension manifest files.

Solution 1: Turn it Off and Back On

"Did you try turning it off and back on again?" Everyone is familiar with this cliché first suggestion by IT teams regarding technical issues. It's a cliché for a reason though, as it often works. However, in this case, we're not turning a piece of hardware off and back on again; we're turning off extensions instead.

If you are working with a project manager, I recommend getting approval from them or any other appropriate party before pursuing this solution.

  • Navigate to the extension manager.
  • Turn off all extensions.
  • Re-run fetch and confirm the error message is gone.
  • Turn the extension back on, one at a time, and re-fetch until you identify the issue.
  • Resolve the issue, usually with a manifest update.

Solution 2: Manual Approach

This solution is more time-consuming than the first, though it is less disruptive to the extensions. Again, if you are working with a project manager, I recommend getting approval from them or any other appropriate party before pursuing this solution due to the time investment required.

  • Manually find and check all extension manifest files for bugs.issues.
  • Manually find and check all Extension records (SC ExtMech Extension) and confirm they are setup correctly.
  • Ensure the manifest is correctly linked and the fields on the record match the manifest.
